Commons on Demand ("Commons") is software for time-limited presentations of creative and cognitive work. By using it you agree to these terms.
Makers own their work. Commons is infrastructure, not a publisher: it does not commission, edit, endorse, or claim rights over anything presented here. Responsibility for a work rests with the maker who uploads content and presents it.
Every cluster exists for 24 hours and is then deleted — files, pages, and media are removed from our systems after expiry. Commons keeps no archive of your uploaded work, except the COMMONS EDITION’s master. Do not rely on Commons for storage.
Commons has no recommendation engine, sells no data, and shows no advertising. Nothing you do here is profiled or monetized beyond the payment you choose to make.
Opening a cluster is free — there is no fee to create one; the gate on making is invitation, not money. Buyers pay the cluster's edition price: the sum of the prices its maker set, never less than $16 — a floor, not a ceiling; paying more is always open to buyers. Payments are processed by our merchant of record, Dodo Payments, which handles applicable taxes. Because a COMMONS EDITION is a unique, numbered digital object and the cluster is time-limited (24 hours), all sales are final except where the work, image, or COMMONS EDITION was unavailable due to a technical fault on our side or where required by law.
Buyers: Attending a cluster requires no account: a cluster is reachable by its link during its 24 hours, and its editions can sell out.
A digital product: What you buy is a Commons Edition, besides attending a cluster. What is a COMMONS EDITION? One unique, numbered digital artwork — Nº n of at most 50 per cluster cycle, a cap enforced by the system — delivered at the moment of payment. It carries the maker's uploaded work, minted by Commons, and the Commons seal. Beneath the image, the deed — show the image; keep the deed part private. Makers retain the maker's proof at the moment they upload an image for Commons to mint their editions during their 24h clusters. A maker's proof is free.
Maker's access: Commons is curated. Maker accounts are created by invitation only — an invitation code is required to register, and invitations are extended or withdrawn at Commons' discretion. Once makers are registered they can use Commons to create programs via Commons Editions.
Lost access: A maker who has lost their password, or a buyer who has lost the private key on their deed, can write to contact@commons-on-demand.com from the email address used at sign-up or purchase. Commons stores only a fingerprint of your key, never the key itself — recovery issues a new key and retires the old one; your card is re-delivered with the new key on its deed.
Your purchase grants an artwork (Commons Edition) automatically downloaded to you — the only authorized download: your unique numbered digital artwork, the Commons Edition. You also get a personal, non-transferable license to experience the works during the cluster's 24 hours you are attending — nothing more. Buyers may not screenshot, photograph, screen-record, download, or otherwise capture or reproduce any content presented in a cluster, in whole or in part. The works exist strictly online, inside Commons, for the duration of the cluster. Capturing or redistributing cluster content violates these terms and the makers' rights, and may result in loss of access and legal responsibility to the rights holders.
What we collect from makers: name, city, email, and role — used solely to place you on the globe, label your work, and contact you if necessary. An email address and password are mandatory for sign-in. Commons never collects or stores bank details. Payment information is held directly with our bank, added once through a secure link when you join.
What we collect from visitors: nothing while you browse. No accounts, no tracking, no analytics, no profiles, no third-party data sharing. The only cookie-like storage is the session token that keeps a signed-in maker logged in, and (for buyers) a ticket for the cluster they activated. At purchase, our merchant of record processes your payment and Commons receives the transaction record, including your name and email. The maker receives a list of all buyers with your name and your edition number — never your email. If you want to stay anonymous, email contact@commons-on-demand.com.
Payments: processed by Dodo Payments as merchant of record — see Dodo Payments' privacy policy. Commons never sees or stores card numbers. Maker payments are made by bank transfer through Relay (relayfi.com), a financial technology company; banking services provided by Thread Bank, Member FDIC.
Infrastructure: Cloudflare (Cloudflare privacy).
Deletion: expired works are deleted from storage and cache automatically. Makers may delete their profile and works at any time.
